A wide base with acute curve in the trailing edge helps in a number of ways. The base area provides more of a sweet spot in the tail to allow for feet adjustment. A 70/30 foil gives control through transition of turns, allowing the water to grip both sides of the fin. This maximises stall time before cavitation and eases back into drive after tail slides.
